Just a quick update on what has been happening here in the Sandhurst WYD office.
Firstly a HUGE thank you to all involved in the Journey of the Cross and Icon. It was an amazing series of events. Checking registrations and databases We have been going through the bookings in Egeria as the groups have been merged into regional groupings and single school groupings. A number of issues have emerged. Many people have registered more than once, or registered and not joined a recognized group. We are attempting to contact everyone who seems to have had issues with the system to help them get sorted out. The Sydney WYD office also have deleted some registrations in the merge process, so please ask anyone you know who thinks they are registered to check if they are a part of one of the following groups: 2159 Bendigo Region 2161 ECHUCA Region 2166 Cobram Region 2173 SHEPPARTON Region 2177 WANGARATTA Region 2180 WODONGA Region 2593 CCB (there are a number of CCB groups being merged into this one next week) 2600 FCJ/Benalla 2615 SMOTA & St Augustine's 2621 Marian/Myrtleford 2630 NDC/Shepparton 2636 Galen/Wangaratta 2641 CCW/Wodonga 2650 SHC/Yarrawonga 8662 Faith and Light Sandhurst 8673 Sandhurst Family Groups, own accommodation If pilgrims are not with one of these groups, we cannot be sure that they will have accommodation or transport, or receive updates from us regarding their WYD preparation and experience. Apologies if you get this email from more than one source, we are consolidating our databases now that we have more pilgrims to ensure that everyone gets regular updates – pilgrims and their community members. Preparing for pilgrim preparation sessions All pilgrims who are registered within Egeria have been emailed an invitation to pilgrim preparation sessions. These start soon and will be every two weeks for six sessions. Please encourage all pilgrims to attend. There are still people who intend to register, but haven’t done so yet, so are not aware of the preparation sessions. Please invite them! Each region will also need people to run sessions 2 and 3. If you would like to be involved in presenting this material to pilgrims, please email me, and your regional co-ordinator. Information and Training will be provided on how to run the session. Formation Session One April 10, 7pm - St Mary’s Church Hall, Echuca April 12, 9am - Marian Center, Catholic College Bendigo April 13, 9am - St Mary’s Church Hall, Mooroopna April 13, 2pm - St John’s Parish Hall, Numurkah April 19, 9am - St Brigid’s Centre, Wangaratta (back of 71 Riley St) (Venue To be confirmed) April 19, 2pm - Sacred Heart Church Hall, Wodonga Photo and video footage of the Journey of the Cross and Icon. Each regional coordinator has been sent the official photos © Andrew Introna for their region of the Journey of the Cross and Icon. These are free to use, copy and distribute in the local community, as long as any time they are published, Andrew is credited as the photographer. Edwin has created a DVD of one key event for each region and included still photos of other events. Each region has about 3-4 minutes, making about 30 mins across the diocese. They are put together with a backing track of Rob Galea’s songs.
They will be published on YouTube shortly with links from our website, and a copy of the DVD provided for each regional co-ordinator. We would like to put a number of photos up on our SYM website and would appreciate a volunteer to assist us with this task – preferably in the office here. Please contact Geraldine on sym@sand.catholic.org.au if you can help out.
There is a presentation on the CEO website at http://www3.ceo.sand.catholic.edu.au/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=271&Itemid=54 Merchandise Stock take Geraldine has completed a merchandise stock take after the JCI and a flyer will be available shortly for pre ordered clothing with our Sandhurst logo, and other WYD merchandise. Of particular note is Robert Galea’s new CD “What a Day” which is available from the Chancery with profits supporting pilgrims to travel to WYD. Looking for a project volunteer We are looking for a volunteer to co-ordinate a mail out evangelization pilgrim project for us. It would involve an initial input of about 10 hours here in the office (over a couple of days) to create a mailing list and system for distribution and then a monthly input of about 2-3 hours to keep the pilgrims updated. We would prefer to have one person take on the project rather than call in a different volunteer each time. If you are interested, please respond via email. Thanks again for all you are doing towards World Youth Day,
Take care Karen Lunney Diocesan WYD Co-ordinator |
