Pilgrimage Flyer World Youth Day as a catalyst for faith formation and leadership development The unit will explore the long term impact of WYD and provide an opportunity to integrate the experience into your teaching, ministry and life. This online unit, is the only course of its kind offered in Australia and has been developed specifically for the Australian Church. The unit will be delivered in an interactive online mode using the latest technology, easily accessible by all students. IT support will be provided. Course Outline: • Required reading on pilgrimage and the spiritual journey. • Theological reflection on the importance of pilgrimage in our spiritual journey as religious leaders, teachers, and ministers. • A learning journal for all modules, including journaling during the WYD pilgrimage. • Online discussion and sharing of the learning journal with other students. • Practical reflections on how the WYD pilgrimage will be shared with others, as part of the call to teach, lead, or minister to others. Module 1 Online Orientation and WYD Preparation (16 – 30 June) Module 2 World Youth Day – Engaging in the Pilgrimage Experience (15 – 20 July) Module 3 Online Theological Reflection (4 – 18 August) In this online unit Dr McCorquodale will lead a theological reflection on the importance of pilgrimage in our spiritual journey as teachers, youth ministers and religious leaders. Her professional career in Catholic youth ministry began in 1981, for the past twenty-six years; she has worked in parish, school, and diocesan ministry settings. As a past World Youth Day pilgrimage leader, she brings an experienced perspective to theological reflection in the WYD Pilgrimage Unit. Presently, Dr McCorquodale serves as an international educator, researcher, and consultant for the fields of lay ecclesial ministry and youth ministry. Since 2003, she taught courses for BBI and is currently, BBI’s Youth Ministry Course Coordinator. |
