In the Cathedral, The October Youth Mass included a Blessing of Pens for all who were doing exams.

O God,

The fullness of blessing comes down from you.

To you our prayers of blessing rise up.

In your kindness, guide these students preparing for their examinations.

They stand before you, holding a pen, the symbol of their study.

We ask that their work at school, and their study at home,

be rewarded with appropriate scores and desired results.

We bless their pens and pray that in the coming examinations

– and in their lives ahead, the pen will be used to write the truth,

to ennoble our literary world,  to provide adequate information,

and to be the source of enrichment for our society.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
