Dear friends of the word!

I ringed at the door of a family who moved to Germany from the Near East a few years ago. “Nur” was the name of the 11-years old daughter of the family – came happily to open the door. She made lauds of happiness. She wasn’t able to speak, because she was deaf.

Weeks ago I got to know this family. A young mother from Iraq drew my attention to the sorrow of these people. This family included three deaf-born children. Now this 6-headed family sat in a poorly flat in Germany – far away from home. I ask the still young mother why she had left her home. “I was a teacher and me and my husband felt very well – in our country. Then we had children. My first child was deaf and my third, too. There are not any possibilities of furtherance for them. They would have been completely sunk into poverty, because they weren’t able to go to any school. So we decided to go into a country where they can go to school with their handicap.” While the young woman was speaking I felt how hard she tried to learn our language. In her eyes I saw a unbelievable power and real fortitude to live.

During the conversation the little Nur had sat with us and played. I learned quickly a few hand signs of sign language to “speak” with her. When I was able to “say” her name and the word “thank you” in sign language she happily jumped up and down on the old sofa.

When I was gone I felt a deep concern and happiness at the same time. I had found a love in this Muslim family that had touched me deeply. Parents who put their own lives into the back and leave everything to offer a better future to their children. They had understood the reality and the truth of their family as a call for love. They had left everything for love! They took all the hardness, strangeness and unsureness for love! What a love! – In my own heart I had found an evidence of life of this family, a happiness and a light, like I haven’t found for a long time. I understood heavenly steps:

(1)   Say YES to the truth of your own life!

(2)   Understand the call of it!

(3)   Change the truth into steps of love!

(4)   This way will bring you to a light in your heart and in the hearts of those who you will be given.

I had seen this light in the eyes of the little Nur.

Dear friends of the word, lets us say YES to the truth of our own lives this upcomming month. Let us understand the thruth in this Call of God and then let us do real steps of love. Fruit of this way will be a light in our hearts (and eyes)!
