Take Jesus at his Word - May 09 PDF Print E-mail
ImageDear friends of the word,

We can not live without “bread”! As human beings we have to eat to live. If we don’t eat for certain part of time we are becoming powerless and weak, until even life goes out of our body and we die.

At the same time it says: “You don’t only live from bread alone!” Because just like our body is hungry and thirsty so is our soul. If it doesn’t get any food, it gets weak and powerless and looses the luminosity of our lives

But what kind of food is it, that we can give our soul to “eat”? Jesus gives us an answer to this question – with regard to His own life. He makes clear to His listeners that His own soul in every moment of the day asks for the will of His Father in heaven. “Not mine but your will be done!” Jesus even says in the situation He is scared of the soldiers who are coming to pick Him up and to kill Him. If you see Jesus, you see the Father! The one who went with Jesus at that time, understood how the Father is. And that is still true today: the one who follows Jesus today and who does His heavenly will in each moment, the one brings in a certain way heaven to earth.

Dear friends of the word, to do God’s will in each moment, how can that work? How do we get to know the Will of God? “God is love!” the evangelist John tells us. HE doesn’t “have” love, no, He “is” love. We actually “have” love and always do little steps of love. But God only can love and nothing else. Therefore His will is always LOVE. A question that can help us while searching for the will of God is therefore: What is the BIGGER love right now? – If we ask ourselves this question over and over again, we will find out more and more the will of God in our everyday-moments better and better.

“Can I help you?” a younger woman asked an older woman during shopping noticing that the older one had lost her way. The older lady started to talk and told her about her distresses and personal sorrow. The younger woman didn’t have much time. But the bigger love – so she thought – was to stay and to listen. At the end the younger one asked the older one if she could visit her sometime? A light came in to the face of the old lady how the young lady wouldn’t have expected.

The food of Jesus – to do the will of the Father. What is the bigger love right now? This question, dear friends of the word, can follow us at this month. It will let us understand what to do and what to leave. We are looking forward to experience some of these adventures with all of you.
