While young people are in your care, you must take every reasonable effort to ensure that no harm comes to any participant.
The best way to do this is to act preventively – try your best to ensure that nothing will happen. You can do this by minimising the risks involved in any activity. The following questions are a way of assessing the risks involved in any activity you do:
• What is the activity?
• Identify the hazards.
• What has the potential to cause harm?
• What could go wrong?
• How can the risks be removed or minimised?
