CDOS 2024 Year in Review

The Chancery was a hub of activity on the 20 and 21 August as Parish Administration Staff gathered to enhance their professional skills and foster valuable connections at the ninth annual diocesan Parish Administration Conference. A key focus on the first day of the conference was networking, with ice-breaking activities helping participants from parishes of the Diocese, including eight newcomers, to connect. Later, sessions covered essential topics such as employment, risk management, finance and legal compliance, with presentations from Chancery experts. Staff also had the opportunity to meet and engage with Bishop Shane Mackinlay during a Q&A session. Prayer and Mass at St Kilian’s Church provided moments of reflection, and parish reports offered insights into shared challenges and successes. Attendees appreciated the chance to build relationships and gain practical knowledge, with many highlighting the importance of face-toface interactions with Chancery staff. For some, it was an opportunity to see their parish in a broader diocesan context and understand their relationship with the mission of the universal Church. Diocesan Business Manager, Cameron Fraser, who instigated the annual Conference with the help of Executive Assistant, Sally Holmes commented, “This conference is a tremendous opportunity to strengthen relationships with parish staff and recognise their vital role in our parishes.” Learning & Heartfelt Connections Parish Administration Conference Year in Review 2024 Catholic Diocese of Sandhurst 41
